Breaking in and Staying in Legal Academia
This is a program for anyone considering a position in law school teaching or administration. We welcome students thinking about a future career in the academy, practitioners considering a transition or foray into adjunct teaching and those contemplating a post in law school leadership. This program will offer hands-on practical advice to people who are considering a move into teaching or administration at a law school. Current faculty members considering a post in law school administration should attend. Members from underrepresented groups in the academy are especially welcome. Free but space is limited so registration is required!
Thursday, September 29, 2016:
Immediately preceding the SALT Teaching Conference, LatCrit Inc. & SALT will hold their Tenth Annual Junior Faculty Development Workshop (FDW) at no additional cost. The FDW is designed for critical, progressive, and social justice oriented pre-tenure professors (including clinicians and legal writing professors), as well as those who may be contemplating a law teaching career. The FDW is designed to familiarize junior faculty with LatCrit and SALT principles and values and support them in the scholarship, teaching, and service aspects of professional success. We invite prospective, new, junior and senior law teachers to participate. FDW Facebook Page

BONUS OPTIONAL EVENT: SECOND CITY SHOW, A RED LINE RUNS THROUGH IT, 8 P.M. FRI., SEPT. 30. TICKETS $28. A Red Line Runs Through It rides the rails of Chicago in order to answer life’s tough questions. How does the past sculpt the future? Are we all guided by anger? In this ever-changing landscape of nostalgia and uncertainty sometimes we need a brunch with friends to sort it all out. Who will snap first? No one knows what tomorrow will bring and the only thing that is certain is that this train keeps moving. This diverse cast of comedians will take you on their own ride exploring the new mother blues, black girl magic, and salacious local news. This non-stop locomotive launches from north to south along a transit line of pure comic bliss. More about Second City: The Second City is a historic Chicago landmark that has been bringing the funny for over 50 years. In that time, The Second City has been daring audiences to laugh at our world, our shared troubles, and ourselves. You’ll enjoy the latest of cutting edge sketch comedy combined with songs & improv. And we have more than a handful of successful Second City alumni that we aren’t too modest to mention, like Tina Fey, Steven Colbert, and Steve Carell.
